The Cat fish Team take a day out on the river Wye

Paul Fagan was our cat fishing guide in Spain for Dan’s 21st birthday. A date was arranged to take advantage of him fishing for barbel whilst in the UK to have a social fishing session.

Most of the team Dan, Vince, Mark, Rob and Clive wanted to fish so I booked a beat on the river Wye. It was great to meet the team again when arrived on the banks. A quick hello and people were wanting to get going. Vince and son Dan fished one swim Rob fished another. Mark and Clive fished together upstream. Paul was going to fish with me.

It was going to be very difficult as the river was very low and clear. However Mark and Clive were soon off the mark and had two barbel in the net at the same time. Then they had a chub on. Help was required so I duly obliged.

Paul and Rob were not fairing so well and it was not until later on the day did the barbel show.

Dan and Vince were also catching barbel and chub.

We had a great lunch on the bank and continued fishing after until the evening.

At least Paul didn’t blank and he caught a small barbel of about 6lbs or so.

Plenty of barbel were caught and I think Vince had the largest which was I believe 8lbs plus.

It was wonderful spending the day with Paul and we must meet up again and fish for those barbel in southern Spain.
