September river low and clear

September has been very quite fishing on the Hampshire Avon. There has been insufficient rain and temperatures continued to be hit high for the most of the month. However the club and barbel  continued to feed. The weed growth had been static and if anything the swans were keeping it in check.

I also managed to sneak in a 2 week break to Gran Canaria towards the end of the month.

Fishing the Avon on a couple of occasions saw me catch a couple of largest chubby however it was extremely difficult with the Water clarity being so good. The chub could distinguish the line in the river.

Both chub were similar in size and proportions.

Focus shot

One of the things I have talking about is my phone and what exceedingly good photo’s  it takes. It’s a Hauwowi phone and is great for editing and has many camera settings that you can change for various shots. One of mine is to alter the aperture setting to have various depths of field. In layman terms  It what’s in focus and what isn’t. What I find incredible is the ability to alter this even after the photo is taken and is in the phoned memory. I have never been able to do this on my Canon camera. So it’s a luxury to have it now. Perhaps I should show some examples when there fishing is slow.
