September 23rd Throop

Well after a good nights rest I returned for another day. The weather forecast was for heavy rain possibly 20mm early in the day. So decisions were made to fish a swim where I had seen some large chub under a willow branch and bunker in for the morning and see what happens. I droppered the normal 1.5 pints of hemp into the swim and sat back and tackled up. I was using the normal inline lead 2.5oz and a short hook link and a double boilie on one, and one and a half on the other. The rain did pour for 3 hrs and had the river rising. It was slow going I lost a small chub at 11.15am and had plenty of pike activity in the swim. Then at 11.40 had a chub of about 3lbs which is great news as these are the big ones of the future. 12.30 I baited again with hemp and at 2pm had a nice chub of 5lbs 2oz. Then the debris kept coming down which forced a move. I couldn’t settle in a swim after this so I used the remainder of the day to walk and look to see what was about. Nothing much was caught although Sid the bailiff had a nice chub the best part of 6lbs and a smaller one. I stayed and had a chat to Sid until it was 9pm and time to be off the fishery. By 6pm the debris had stopped coming down so things looked good for the next day.
