Perch fishing

The rivers have been in a serious flood since November. The H.Avon has been so high it almost reached it’s highest ever 1.36. The Stour has been in the same situation with water in the fields for weeks on ends. I was desperate to get out. Perch fishing was the answer. So I returned to a small fishery that used to produce some good perch. That lake had done it’s cycle and it was the 3rd lake that was starting to show some good fish to just under 3lbs.

So I set off and met Mike who pointed me in the right direction. I was fishing near some branches that entered the lake from a small bush on the bank. All I was doing was spraying maggots and fishing small prawns on the hook. It was still warm and the carp were very active. I was catching a good few carp to about 10lbs or so and the occasional perch. As the day wore on the perch started to feed at dusk and I caught 6 in total. The largest was 2lbs 2oz and the other was 1.14oz. Nothing much under 1lb.
