October 31st Preparation

After a few phone calls during the week I secured a ticket for both Dan and myself to fish the Willow lake on the Linch Hill complex. So the ticket starts on the 1st of November and not wanting to waste anytime Dan and I agreed to meet on Monday the 1st November and start our roach campaign. We are unsure about how many people will be there so we both confessed the 3 day session to be a look and see. Also to find some features.

Since we secured a ticket Dan and myself have been unearthing as much information as we can about the lake and the methods to fish it. I know that short and fine hooklinks and small hooks and maggots have caught the large roach.

So today I’ve been tying rigs and setting things up. I’m using size 20 hooks and 2lb hooklinks of about 2″ long. I’m planning on flavouring the maggots with pineapple. I’m going to keep the rigs to myself at the moment, I tried something new at Horseshoe for the tench this year and did fairly well. Watch this space all will be revealed if it works. I had to change all my luggage and gear that’s normally setup for the river. So out comes the bivi again and all the cooking equipment etc.

Since catching the 7lbs 12oz chub on the Stour I decide to give the rivers a miss for a while. I did get a mention in the Angling Times and won a weekly award.
