12th April Moor lake Great Somerford. 8 more tench

Well here we are again on Moor lake. I’m still waiting for Horseshoe to settle down. Probably might go next week.

The weather was starting to cool down from the 20’s over the weekend to about 15c. There was still plenty of sunshine and a brisk south western wind. I arrived at about 7.15am and made my way to the swim I previously fished.

Soon I fired some hemp by the catapult to about 4 rod lengths out, just out from the near shelf. I was starting with method feeder on one rod (2 rubber maggots) and short helicopter rig on the other combined with a swim feeder with real maggots.

It wasn’t long before I had 3 tench landed all over 4lbs which is about average size for the lake. All the fish came to the method feeder, so at 10.30 I changed the other rod to method feeder too.

The bait does break up very well in short period of time leaving a good bed for any hungry tench to come across.

So after catching another few more at midday all about the same size things went quite for the afternoon. I did help new members  Reg and his son Sam catch a few more tench, rudd, perch from a swim I had been baiting up all day in the small lake just behind me.

You could see the fish drifting over and feeding on the clear gravel patch that had been created.

I had a couple more tench later on and had some fun taking some video footage for.

The eventual count was 8 tench all in very good condition. No rudd on this occasion though.
Have a look at at the next blog it was funny doing this.
