10th November Hampshire Avon and another chub

Well there I was on the banks of the river quite late at 3pm. I can only fish for a couple of hours so time is important.

I ended fishing the original swim of Tuesday where I only had a couple of pulls from eels.

I baited with hemp and boilies and sat back and waited for the chub to move in. I cast out with the same long hooklink of 3 ft.

The swim had most of the floating debris near my bank so I had to have the rod pointing to the sky to avoid this picking up on the line, however fishing the far slack was where the chub lay.

Good chub swim

Time was going by when at 4pm I had a few pulls on the rod tip followed by a good bite. I lifted into the fish and I found that it wasn’t fighting as well as it should. I’m sure it’s all down to the pathetic flow on the river.

I soon had the chub coming towards the net and I could see the boilie just hanging outside of the mouth. Where was the hook. I needn’t have worried as it was just inside the mouth, but dropped out when the fish was in the net.

It was a very long fish not particularly fat. On the scales it went 5lbs 4oz.

I thought I had one more chance for the evening, but unfortunately nothing much was interested in my bait.

So that was it for the 3 evenings fishing for a couple of hours, two good chub and one blank.
